Question 372657: What is the solution for this equation?
2x^2=3x-2?
I first moved the 2x over then set it to = 0, but i'm not sure if that is the correct way to solve. I factored then and got 2x(x-2)-1(x-2)=0, which i then put as (2x-2)(x-2). I got the answers x=2, x=1/2. I'm confused because I am not sure if this was the way to solve, or if I should have used the quadratic formula?

Question 372684: If an object is projected vertically upward from an altitude of s(o) feet with an intial velocity of v(o) ft/sec, then its distance above the ground after t seconds is: s(t)=-16t^2+ v(o)t+ s(o).
If s(1)= 64 and s(2)=66, what are s(o) and v(o)?
I honestly do not know how to set the problem up! Please help, it would be greatly appreciated!Thanks :)

Question 372663: What is the solution for this equation? I know i had to use the u, u^2 formula for this.
x^1/2+3x^1/4-10 = 0
First I let u = x^1/4 and u^2 = (x^1/2)^2= 1/2. After that I had the equation
u^2+3u-10=0. I factored it to (u+5)(u-2)=0, and had u=-5,u=2.
(x^1/4)^4= -5^4, (x^1/4)^4= 2^4. My solutions were x=625, x=16. Is this correct?

Question 372700: A man flies an airplane from Fargo to Bismark -- a distance of 180 mi. Because he is flying into a head wind, the trip takes 2 hours. On the way back, the wind is blowing the same speed, so it takes an 1 hour and 48 mins. What is his speed in still air and how fast is the wind blowing?

Question 372647: How would I solve this equation?
x - 1 = 2
___ ___ _____
x+1 x-1 x^2-1
I used the LCD of x+1, x-1 and i know the answer cannot be x=1 or x=-1. I came up with the answer of x= -1 but since it cannot be that, i put the empty set symbol of 0. Please help me, if this is incorrect? thank you.

Question 373815: I can not figure this out!!!
Suppose a meter accepts nickels, dimes and quarters. You inserted a total of 32 coins with a value of $6.80. How many of each coin did you insert?
This is in the Systems of Equations section of my textbook but I've also been told that it maybe a diophantine equation. I know for a system of equations with three varibles you need 3 equations. I have figured out two of the equations.
n+d+q=32 and .05n+.10d+.25q=6.80 but from there it goes blank! I appreciate any help anyone can offer!! Thanks in advance!

Question 373989: Solve by rearranging the equations first. Then use the multiplication principle and then use the elimination method:
3x=8y+11
x+6y-8=0
I know rearranged they are:
3x-8y=11
x+6y=8
But then I would need to take -3 times (3x-8y=11)
After figuring it out my answer is y=-35 over 26. But I do not think I am right!! Please help!!

Question 374167: Solve for each system by the substitution method
6x - 3y = 3
10x = y + 7
..
10x=[y]+7
-7 -7
----------
10x-7=y
+7 +7
-----------
10=y-7
+7 +7
y=17
Plug it in the first equation
6x-3(17)=y
6x-51=3
+51 +51
--------
6x=54
/6
x=9
Check:
6(9)-3(17)=3
