Question 111668: A small firm produces both AM and AM/FM car radios. The AM radios take 15 h
to produce, and the AM/FM radios take 20 h. The number of production hours is
limited to 300 h per week. The plant’s capacity is limited to a total of 18 radios per
week, and existing orders require that at least 4 AM radios and at least 3 AM/FM
radios be produced per week. Write a system of inequalities representing this situation.
Then, draw a graph of the feasible region given these conditions, in which x
is the number of AM radios and y the number of AM/FM radios.

Question 111861: Hi-
I have been working on this problem and I think I am doing it right. I am about halfway done if I am doing it correctly.
Solve the system by addition:
2x-4y=7
4x+2y=-1
What I did was multiply the second equation by (2)
(2)(4x+2y=-1)
8x+4y=-2
2x-4y=7
_____________
10x/10 = 5/10
and I come up with
x= 1/2
Is that correct?
If so how do I replace work the problem so that I can solve for y?
I am not certain how to multiply to get rid of the fraction at the bottom?
what should I do next?

Question 111869: I am working on the following problem and hope I did it right.
Adult tickets for a play cost $15 and child tickets cost $6. If there were 33 people at a performatnce and the theater collected $360 from ticket sales, how many children attended the play?
Let X= Adult tix
Let Y= Child tix
1x+1y=33
15x+6y=360
Then I had to multiply the first equation by 15.
(15)(1x+1y) = 33(15)
15x+15y= 495
Then I had to multiply the other equation by -1
(-1)(15x+6y) =360(-1)
-15x-6y=-360
Then I had to add both equations together.
15x+15y=495
-15x-6y=-360 the result was
9y=135
I divided both sides by 9
and came up with y=15.
Is that correct?
I tried to check my work by inputting
1x+1(15)=33
1x+15=33
then subtracted 15 from both sides and came up with x=18.
When I tried to check my work
15(15) +6(18)this is supposed to =360 and I don't think that came out right.
What did I do wrong?
Thank you.
Tracy
