Use either the substitution method or the elimination by addition method to solve the system, whichever seems more appropriate.

E1: 5x - 2y = 1
E2: 10x - 4y = 7
Elimination by addition makes more sense.
Multiply E1 by -2 and add E1+E2 to eliminate one of the variables.
E1: -2(5x-2y)=-2(1)---> -10x+4y=-2

-10x+4y=-2
10x-4y=7

0+0=5
0=5
Both variables were eliminated and 0 does not = 5, there is no solution.
