12x - (4x + 10) = 54
12x - 4x - 10 = 54
8x = 54 + 10
8x = 64
x = 64/8
x = 8

12x -(4x+10)=54
mutilpy (4x + 10) by -1:
12x - 4x - 10 = 54
combine like terms:
8x - 10 = 54
Add each side by 10:
8x - 10 = 54
+10 +10
8x = 64
Divde by 8 on each side:
8x/8 = 64/8
x=8
