Question 593904: I am having trouble with the setup this question.
A food server examines the amount of money earned in tips after working an 8-hour shift. The server has a total of $191 in denominations of $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills. The total number of paper bills is 53. The number of $5 bills is 4 times the number of $10 bills, and the number of $1 bills is 1 less than twice the number of $5 bills. Write a system of linear equations to represent the situation. Then use matrices to find the number of each denomination.
I have set up for the equations, where a =$1 bills, b=$5 bills, c=$10 bills and d=$20 bills
a + b + c + d =53
a + 5b +10c +20d =191
0 + b - 4c + 0 = 0 from the relationship b=4c
a - 2b + 0 + 0 = -1 from the relationship a=2b-1
I have tried solving it a couple of different ways, and I keep getting to a point that it doesn’t work. Do I have this set up correctly or am I missing something?

Question 594781: Side A of a triangle is twice side B. Side C is 2m shorter than side A. The perimeter is 98m. Find the length of each side.
This is what is was working on, but at the end, when I added up the sides, they did not equal 98m.
A + B + C = Perimeter
A= 2B, B= B, C= A-2 or 2B - 2
2B + B + 2B - 2 = 98
5B = 100
B = 25m
Therefore, 98 = 50 + 25 + 48, but it doesn't

Can you explain, please?

Question 594855: Andy is twice as old as Kate. In 6 years, their ages will total 60. How old is each now?
This is what I did. However, when I did the math for how old A and K are NOW, it didn't work out.
Let Andy = A
Let Kate = K
A = 2K
2K + K = 60
3K = 60
K = 20
Kate will be 20 and Andy will be 40 in 6 years.
Now they are: Kate = 20 - 6, Andy = 40 - 6
Kate is 14 now and Andy is 34 now.
HOWEVER, if this is true, Andy is NOT twice as old as Kate.
I don't understand.
