a*(the cost of an adult ticket)+c*(the cost of a child's ticket equals=1080
sub in 2a for c
a*(the cost of an adult ticket)+2a*(the cost of a child's ticket equals=1080
combine like terms and solve the equation for a. Plug in what you get for a into the original equation
