Question 389168: I have a word problem...I'm not sure what type of problem it is but...it's a word problem but I believe it is also a linear equation. Here is the question...
Mr.Collins and his son own a cattle farm. They have been losing cattle in the swamp, the forest and the river that border their land. They want to build a fence to enclose their farm. They know that the fence will form a semicirlce, two sides of a rectangle and the hypotenuse of a triangle. How many feet of fencing will they have to buy? If the fencing costs $2.16/ foot, how much will the fence cost? Use pi=3.14. I have the width of the rectangle as 400 ft the length of the rectangle as 600 ft and the heigth of the triangle as 300 ft. The triangle is on top of the rectangle and the semi circle lays against the height of the rectangle and the height of the triangle with a total length of the diameter of the circle would be 900 feet. I know that the radius of circle would then be 450 ft...help! I don't even know where to start with the information.
