Question 44025: I've got this question: An open-top box is to be constructed from a 6 by 8 foot rectangular cardboard by cutting out equal squares at each corner and the folding up the flaps. Let x denote the length of each side of the square to be cut out.
a)Find the function V that represents the volume of the box in terms of x.
I've managed to come up with volume of the box is width x length x height = (6-2x)(8-2x)x. This is where it ends for me, I can't figure out how to solve it and I need to solve it, because I have to graph it.
b) Graph this function and show the graph over the valid range of the variable x.

Question 45372: Could you help with this problem:
1/3S + 7/9 = 4/3s
So far what I have done is:
Multiplied both sides by 9 to get 9(1)/3s + 9(7)/9 + 9(4)3s
Then I get 3 * s + 7 = 3 * 4 * s
Which is 3 * s + 7 = 12s
Then I have subtracted 3s from both sides but I'm not sure about these steps.
I get stuck here. Can you help?

"A glass of milk supplies 0.1 mg of iron and 8.5 mg of protein. A quarter pound of lean meat provides 3.4 mg of iron and 22 g of protein. If a person on a special diet is to have 7.1 mg of iron and 69.5 g of protein, how many glasses of milk and how many quarter-pound servings of meat will provide this?"

Let y be the number of hotdogs the vendor sells at x dollars each. Write a linear equation that models the number of hot dogs sold per day when the price is x dollars each.
In my work I keep getting 48x but Im not sure how. I may be negative, I don't know. And I'm getting both 54 and 150 to add on to it in the equation but again, I'm not sure. THANK YOU!
