Question 315098: This is blowing my mind - the problem reads: Consider the system y=a and x=b where a and b are real numbers. Is this system dependent or independent? Is it consistent or inconsistent? Describe the system. If it is consistent, what is the solution? My assumption is that we are supposed to treat y=a as (0,a) on a graph and x=b as (b,0) on a graph - I believe that would mean one verticle line and one horizontal line which would eventually intersect and, therefore the system would be consistent and independent - I don't know if this is correct or not and I have no idea (other than the way I just described it) how to "describe the system". Furthermore, I have no clue as to what "the solution" would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated - I conceptualize much better with numbers than letters (and I'm not that great dealing with the numbers). Thank You! Click here to see answer by Fombitz(13828)

Question 315544: I have no idea what I am doing with these...Can anyone please help me out! Thank you In the past, we have done a variety of fund raisers for our committee. For example, we printed hats one year. The function for the cost of the hats (including the \$15.50 set up fee) was F(x) = 2.09x + 15.50 =214.05 A. We sold 95 hats that year. How much was our total bill from Signature Shirts? (Yes, they do hats, too…) B. How many hats would we have sold had we paid Signature Shirts \$341.54? C. What is our slope of this function? D. What is our y-intercept? E. What does the y-intercept represent? 6. Our equation y = 2.09x + 15.50 represents our charge for hats. An estimate from a competing company, Lotsa Hats, was -1.13x + y = 13.30. A. Do you expect these lines to be parallel, perpendicular, or intersecting? Why? B. Use the equations to determine if the lines are parallel. Are they? Why or why not? Click here to see answer by stanbon(57214)
