Y=mX+b WHERE (m)=SLOPE & (b)= Y INTERCEPT
SLOPE=(6-10)/(2+4)=-4/6=-2/3
NOW SUBSTITUTE ONE SET OF X,Y VALUES & SOLVE FOR (b)
10=-2/3*-4+b
10=8/3+b
b=10-8/3
b=(30-8)/3
b=22/3
Y=-2X/3+22/3 IS THE LINE FORMULA THROUGH THESE TWO POINTS.

Find the equation of the line that goes through the following set of points.

Line equation: y=mx+b; need to find m and b

m = [10-6]/[-4-2] = 4/-6 = -2/3

Substitute a point and m into the equation form to solve for b:
10=(-2/3)(-4)+b
10 = 8/3 + b
30/3 - 8/3 = b
b = 22/3

EQUATION:
y = (-2/3)x + 22/3
