I've tried to come up with the equations and this is all i have gotten
6x + y = 54
Im not sure how to set up the next problem to help me solve this

Easier to form two equations before simplifying into fewer.
using x for rabbits and y for chickens.

2 legs per chicken;
4 legs per rabbit;
Those are ratios.

Let number of chickens be C

Then number of rabbits = C + 6

Also, 2C + 4(C + 6) = 54

2C + 4C + 24 = 54

6C = 54 – 24

6C = 30
