4x+2y=10
x-y=13
4x + 2y = 10_____2(2x + y) = 2(5)_____2x + y = 5 ------ eq (i)
x - y = 13______x = 13 + y ------- eq (ii)
2(13 + y) + y = 5 ------ Substituting 13 + y for x in eq (i)
26 + 2y + y = 5
2y + y = 5 - 26
3y = - 21
, or
x = 13 - 7 ------- Substituting - 7 for y in eq (ii)
