i am assuming you want to solve for y.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
4x = -3y + 24
subtract 24 from each side so you can isolate the -3y.
4x - 24 = -3y + 24 - 24
4x - 24 = -3y
-3y is -3 time y so you want to divide by -3 to make it just y
(4x - 24)/-3 = (-3y)/-3
(-4/3)x + 8 = y
The new equation is .
