Question 806768: How do I graph the inequality, subject to the non-negative restrictions on the following problem:
40x-55y > 0, x>=0 and y >= 0 (this means x and y are both greater than or equal to zero)

Graph the line
using a dashed line (because the relation is strictly greater than and points ON the boundary are NOT included in the solution set.) Pick a test point not on the boundary line and in the first quadrant. Substitute the coordinates of your test point into the original inequality. If the result is a true statement, shade in the portion of the coordinate plane on the same side of the boundary as the test point and wholly within the first quadrant. If false, shade in the other side of the line, yet wholly within the first quadrant. The shaded area represents the solution set. Note that the solution set does NOT contain points on the boundary line, but does contain points that are on the axes.
