add both equations, when you do that the y-term cancels out (adds to zero)
3x=-3 divide each side by 3
x=-1
now I will plug that into the first equations (you can plug in either one) and solve for y
-1+y=-6 add 1 to each side
y=-5
so the solutions is (-1,-5)
