Let the number of coins each has be "x".
Value of Luis's dimes = 10x cents
Value of Julia's quarters = 25x cents
---------
EQUATION:
Julia value - Luis value = 180 cents
25x-10x=180
15x=180
x = 12 (number of coins each has)
