Answer by josgarithmetic(39620) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
System:
---------
x=2y+4
2y-4x=2
---------
Same as:
-----------
x-2y=4
-4x+2y=2
-----------
If solve each of them for 2y, you have:
2y=x-4 and 2y=4x+2
Equate the formulas for 2y:
simplifying gives
Use that value for x in either original equation and solve for y.
