Solve the 2nd equation for y
Plug this into the y of the first equation
Distribute the -2
Combine like terms
Add 6 to both sides
Divide both sides by -5
Now plug this in for x to solve for y in the 1st equation:
Plug in x=-1/5
Add 1 to both sides
Divide both sides by -2
So the solution is (-1/5,2)
Check:
Plug in (-1/5,2)
