Looks like you've got the right idea but you have to be more careful with the signs (+ & -).
Solve for x:
-10%288x%2B1%29%2B8%2810x%2B1%29+=+x-9 Apply the distributive property.
-80x-10%2B80x%2B8+=+x-9 Combine like-terms on the left.
%28-80x%2B80x%29%2B%28-10%2B8%29+=+x-9 Simplify.
-2+=+x-9 Add 9 to both sides.
7+=+x
The solution is: x = 7
Check: Substitute x = 7
