Question 717043: -5+x/x-1=8
I just need some help working out how to do this please
Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Assume the problem is:
mult both sides by (x-1)
-5 + x = 8(x-1)
-5 + x = 8x - 8
add 8 to both sides
-5 + 8 = 8x - x
3 = 7x
x = 3/7

A quick check, 3/7 ~ .43
