Question 712099: How do you graph linear equations? I don't understand and i need a easier way to do it.
Answer by tutor_paul(519)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You need the slope and the Y-intercept. First step is to get the equation into the following form:

The slope is m, and the Y-intercept is b.
To graph it:
1. Mark a point on the Y-axis at b. This is one point of the line.
2. Look at the slope. If it is positive go "right" from b by whatever value the numerator of the slope is. Go "up" from where you are now by whatever value the denominator of the slope is. Mark this point on the graph. This is the second point of the line.
3. Since you only need 2 points to specify the line, you are done. Just draw a line between this point you just made in step 2, and b.
--------------
Note if slope m is negative, go left from b by the numerator and up from that place by the slope denominator value for that second point.
