Question 711436: Hi, I am confused about this problem and was wondering if you could help me.
Solve the system of equations by substitution:
x + 3y = 1
-3x - 3y = -1
I already tried to solve this and ended up with x=0 and I was not able to go from there. It would be great if you could help me. Thank you

Answer by josgarithmetic(39617)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
EDIT: I first said this, which is wrong: "That is the same equation written in two different ways."

The correct explanation is that the slope of the two equations is the same. The lines are parallel, so do not intersect. They have NO point in common.
