Write equation in standard form?
y - 4 = -(x-1)
same as:
y - 4 = -1(x - 1)
:
Get rid of the brackets, multiply (x - 1) by -1 and you have
y - 4 = -x + 1
:
Add x to both sides:
x + y - 4 = 1
:
added 4 to both sides:
x + y = 1 + 4
:
x + y = 5; the standard form
