Question 701141: Can you please help me solve this equation of linear functions using substitution?
3x + 4y = 6
3x - 4y = 30
Thank you.

Answer by star68(2)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x + 4y = 6 ...equation 1
3x - 4y = 30 ...equation 2
Subtitute eq1+eq2
3x+3x = 6+30
6x=36
x=36/6
x=6
Substitute x=6 into equation 2
3(6)-4y = 30
18-4y=30
-4y=30-18
-4y=12
y= 12/-4
y= -3
Therefore, x=3 and y=-3
