Question 69998: Hey! Thanks for any and all help you can provide. The following problem is one that was given by a professor during the study of slopes and linear equations but I cannot figure out the connection. The questions are below:
1. The price of microsoft stock can be modeled by p=0.3688+43.99. Describe the input and output of function p.
2. The total chapter 12 bankruptcy filing between 1996 and 2000 can be modeled by b=83.9+106.3. What is the rate of change of the number of bankrutcy filings?

1. I think you must have missed something in this problem.
p = 0.3688+43.99 Where's the variable?
p = 44.3588 In this equation, p is a constant so it is not a function at all!
2. b = 83.9+106.3 Again, where's the variable?
b = 190.2 Here again, b is a constant. The rate of change of a constant is zero.
Check the original problem for the missing variables!
