Answer by checkley75(3666) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2X-Y=-1
3X-2Y=1 MULTIPLICATION REQUIRES ONE OR BOTH EQUATIONS TO BE MULTIPLIED BY SOME NUMBER SO AS TO BE ABLE TO ELIMINATE ONE OF THE UNKNOWNS.
MULTIPLYING THE FIRST EQUATION BY -2 WE GET
-6X+2Y=2 NOW WE CAN ADD THIS EQUATION TO THE SECOND ONE AND ELIMINATE THE Y TERM
3X-2Y=1
-------------------------
-3X=3
X=3/-3
X=-1 ANSWER
2*-1-Y=-1
-2-Y=-1
-Y=-1+2
-Y=1
Y=-1 ANSWER
PROOF
3*-1-2*-1=1
-3+2=1
1=1
