Answer by rkennedy(3)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3/2x - 2/5y = 2
3x + 0.5y = 17
3/2x - 2/5 = 2
Multiply by the LCD 10 to clear the fractions
10(3/2x) - 10(2/5y) = 10(2)
5*3x - 2*2y = 20
15x - 4y = 20
Isolate y
15x - 15x -4y = 20 - 15x
-4y = -15x + 20
Divide by -4 to isolate y further
-4y/(-4) = -15x/(-4) + 20/(-4)
y = 15/4x - 5
The slope is 15/4 and the y intercept is (0, -5)
3x + 0.5y = 17
Multiply by 10 to clear out the decimal
3x + 5y = 17
Isolate y
3x - 3x + 5y = 17 - 3x
5y = -3x + 17
Divide by 5 to isolate further
5y/5 = -3x/5 + 17/5
y = -3/5x + 17/5
The slope is -3/5 and the y intercept is (0, 17/5)
