Get rid of the denominator, multiply equation by 12:

Resulting in:
-3(12 + x) = 4(5x - 7) + 24
:
Multiply what's inside the bracket, (a neg outside changes the signs inside)
-36 - 3x = 20x - 28 + 24
:
-3x - 20x = -28 + 24 + 36
:
-23x = +32
x = +32/-23
x = -32/23
:
A rather unwieldy fraction, however, I checked it by substitution.
