You'll notice that the given expression is the difference of two cubes:
x^3 and 2^3

The difference of two cubes is factored as follows:

In the given expression: A = x and B = 2

First factor out the cube root of and the cube root of 8.
That gives you a binomial times a trinomial. That trinomial cannot be factored anymore.
