The second equation tells you that a=3/5b
So simply plug in 3/5b for (a) in the first equation
Now you have 2(3/5b)-b=1
distribute the 2 to get 6/5b-b=1
subtract 1b from 6/5b to get 1/5b
Now the problem reads 1/5b=1
multiply the problem through by 5/1 to cancel the 1/5
b=5
Now just plug b back in to either equation to find out what a is.
