Question 62581This question is from textbook beginning algebra
: 37. x/4-y/3=4
x/4-y/4=-1
39. 2/5x-1/6y=7/10
3/4x-2/3y=19/8
I tried solving these equations I know the lcd the first equation is 30 and 24 the lcm is 3,2 the book has the correct ans for 39 is (1/2,-3).
37 equation is alittle confusing or maybe I am making to difficult. please help me.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1st: x/4-y/3= 4
2nd: x/4-y/4=-1
----------
Subtract 2nd from 1st to get:
3rd: -y/3+y/4=5
Multiply 3rd by 12 to get:
-4y+3y=60
-y=60
y=-60
-----------
Substitute into 1st to solve for y, as follows:
(x/4)+20=4
x/4 =-16
x=-64
--------
Final solution:
x=-64, y=-60
