how do i sove each system by the addition method:
E1: 3x + 2y = 3
E2: 4x - 3y = -13
Multiply E1 by 3 and E2 by 2. Add E1+E2 and the y's are eliminated, enabling you to solve for x.
3(3x+2y)=3(3) ---> 9x+6y=9
2(4x-3y)=2(-13) --->8x-6y=-26
:
9x+6y=9
8x-6y=-26

17x+0=-17
17x=-17
17x/17=-17/17
x=-1
Substitute x=-1 into either E1 or E2 and solve for y.
3(-1)+2y=3
-3+2y=3
3-3+2y=3+3
2y=6
2y/2=6/2
y=3
The soltuion is (-1,3)

To check let x=-1 and y=3 in Both E1 and E2 to see if the equations balance.
E1: 3(-1)+2(3)=3--->-3+6=3 ---> 3=3 E1 checks.
E2: 4(-1)-3(3)=-13 --> -4-9=-13 --> -13=-13 E2 checks also. We're right!
