3x+8=4x-2y............(2)
Take (1)
5(2x-y)=x+20
10x-5y=x+20
10x-5y-x=20
9x-5y=20.............(3)
Now (2)
3x+8=4x-2y
3x-4x+2y=-8
-x+2y=-8.............(4)
Multiply (4) by 9 and add to (3)
9x-5y=20
-9x+18y=-72

13y=-52
y=-52/13
y=-4
Put the value of y in (4)
-x+2y=-8
-x+2(-4)=-8
-x-8=-8
-x=-8+8
-x=0
x=0

x,y=0,-4
