Given the equation, we get x + y = 12,y = 2x
We shall break up the equation into two parts , we get
x + y = 12 --------(1)
y = 2x -------(2)
Now substitute equation(2) in equation(1), we get
x + 2x = 12
3x = 12
Divide by 3 on both sides, we get
x = 4.
Now substitute the value of “x” in equation(2), we get
x = 2 * 4 = 8
Hence the value of “x” = 4 and the value of “y” = 8
