Recall that if two lines are parallel, then the slope is the same
y=2x-6
what is our slope in this line? It is 2 so the slope of the line we will end up with will also be 2.
Subbing in our given point and the slope , we can solve for b
So our line is
y=2x-6
Hopefully this helps, let me know if you are unsure about any of the steps I took.

write the eqaution of a line with a parallel
slope to y=2x-6 and through the point (4,2)
----
slope = 2
Form: y = mx+b
2 = 2*4 + b
b = -6
----
Equation:
y = 2x-6

the slope of line is
.
Any line parallel to this line has same slope
Use point-slope formula
This is the same equation. That means that the
point (4,2) is on this line
