Question 54337: write the equasion, which if plotted would be parallel to y=2x and cuts the y axis at (0,4)
Answer by funmath(2933) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The slope intercept form of an equation is , where m=slope and (0,b) is the y-intercept (the point where the line crosses the y axis).
Parallel lines are lines that if they went on forever they would never touch because they have the same exact slope.
The line y=2x has a slope of 2.
A line that is parallel to that line but going through the y-axis at (0,4) would have an m=2 and a b=4. Plug those numbers into your slope-intercep form of the line and you have:
The lines look like this:
y=2x is red
y=2x+4 is green
I hope that helps you see what I mean about parallel lines.
Happy Calculating!!!
