Question 537900: Can you tell me how to represent A linear function ?
Answer by fcabanski(1391)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=mx+b is the slope-intercept form of a function. If you are given the slope and y-intercept, use that.

If you're given the slope and one point, call it (a,b) then you could use the point-slope form.

y-b=m(x-a)

For example if you're told a line has a slope of 4 and a point on the line is (0,3) then the equation is

y-3=4(x-0)

y-3=4x

y = 4x + 3
