Question 454661: Train A and B are traveling in the same direction on parallel tracks. Train A is traveling at 80 mile per hour and B is traveling at 100 miles per hour. Train A passes a station at 7:25 P.M. if B passes at 7:40 P.M. what time will train B catch up to train A?
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Train A 80 mph
Train B 100 mph
Train B 07:40
Difference in time= 00:15 0.25
Train A will have covered 20 miles before Train B starts
catch up distance= 20 miles
catch up speed = 100 -80 mph
catch up speed = 20 mph
Catchup time = catchup distance/catch up speed
catch up time= 20 / 20
catch up time= 1 hour
It will catch up at 08:40 PM
