You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi
solving by substitution
x = -3y
3y + x = -1
3y + (-3y) = -1
0 ≠ -1 there is NO solution

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3y%2Bx=-1+.....1
x=-3y.........2
------------------------...
x%2B3y=-1+.....1 .....solve for y
3y=-x-1+
y=-%281%2F3%29x-1+

3y=-x.........2
y=-%281%2F3%29x
graph:
+graph%28+500%2C+500%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+-10%2C+10%2C+-%281%2F3%29x-1%2C+-%281%2F3%29x%29+

From the graph, we can see that the two lines are parallel and will never intersect.
So there are no solutions and the system is inconsistent.
