This is kind of a new concept for me so I am trying to get some help with it. I have to solve the following by method of substitution:
{3x-2y=13
{x+y=1
These are all together with the same bracket. I know I am supposed to solve them individually, but I am not sure how to get started. Do I just start filling in numbers?

solve the following by method of substitution:
{3x-2y=13
{x+y=1
----
Solve the 2nd equation for "x":
x = 1-y
----
Substitute that value of "x" into the 1st equation
and solve for "y":

3(1-y) -2y = 13
3-3y-2y = 13
-5y = 10
y = -2
------------
Since x = 1-y, x = 1--2 = 3
------------------------------
Solution (3,-2)

3x-2y=13
....
x+y=1
x=1-y
substitute value of x in first equation
3x-2y=13
3*(1-y)-2y=13
3-3y-2y=13
3-5y=13
add -3 to both sides
3-3-5y=13-3
-5y=10
divide by -5
y=10/-5

..
x+y =1 from (1)
plug value of y =-2
x-2=1

..
