You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x%2By=5 Start with the second equation.


2x%2B3x=5 Plug in y=3x (ie replace every 'y' with '3x')


5x=5 Combine like terms on the left side.


x=%285%29%2F%285%29 Divide both sides by 5 to isolate x.


x=1 Reduce.


y=3x Go back to the first equation.


y=3%281%29 Plug in x=1


y=3 Multiply


So the answers are x=1 and y=3 which form the ordered pair (1,3)


This means that the system is consistent and independent.
