Question 373763: All of the exercises left out two different parts filled in with given information. They are all very similar using a & b, x & y, and g & s as the unknowns.
Problem:
Anita is having a bake sale at her church in order to raise money for a retreat. She needs to make $200 throughout the weekend in order to afford the trip. She decides to make brownies which cost her $1.50 to make 20 and cookies which cost her $2.00 to make 24. How many brownies and cookies must she sell (minus her contribution for having the make them) in order to reach her goal?
Impossible to tell. You provided the information on COST, but no information related to REVENUE. If she sells the brownies for 7.5 cents each or less or if she sells the cookies for 8 and 1/3 cents each or less, then she will never make her goal. On the other hand, if she makes one batch of 20 brownies and gets some sucker to give her $201.50 for one of them, she makes the goal selling 1 brownie. Re-post giving the rest of the information.
