Equation describes a sloping line. For any
equation ax+by+c = 0, slope is .
X intercept is found by setting y to 0: ax+by=c becomes ax=c. that means that x = c/a. 2/1 = 2.
Y intercept is found by setting x to 0: the equation becomes by=c, and therefore y = c/b. Y intercept is 2/1 = 2.
Slope is -1/1 = -1.
Equation in slope-intercept form: y=-1*x+2.
After then you will see that the original equation is x + y =>2 so that you have to rake the above part of the line because you want bigger and equal values rather than just 2. I hope I could explain it in here because I can not draw it..
The second system is also in same logic.. think like y = 4x + 7 and plot it such;
Equation describes a sloping line. For any
equation ax+by+c = 0, slope is .
X intercept is found by setting y to 0: ax+by=c becomes ax=c. that means that x = c/a. 7/-4 = -1.75.
Y intercept is found by setting x to 0: the equation becomes by=c, and therefore y = c/b. Y intercept is 7/1 = 7.
Slope is --4/1 = 4.
Equation in slope-intercept form: y=4*x+7.
After then you will see that the original equation is y <= 4x + 7 so that you have to rake the below part of the line because you want smaller and equal values rather than just 7.
