Question 26280: ok we are doing writing systems equations from word problems: here is one of them
Today at the ball game Victor sold twice as many bags of popcorn as he sold last Saturday. In the 2 days he sold a total of 96 bags. Which system of equations will determine s, the number of bags Victor sold last Saturday, and t, the number of bags he sold today?
ok we are supposed to write two equations for each problem and then solve using either substitution method or the elimination method, and i just cant remember what the teacher said and its stressing me out! so please help me with the problem above. i would greatly appreciate it
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
t=2s
2t=96
Substitute the value of "t" to get:
2(2s)=96
4s=96
s=24
Since s=24, t=2(24)=48
Solution: t=48;s=24
