Question 260439: I'm not sure if the topic I picked was the right one... But, The question on my Mid Term Review is... Write an equation in point slope form of the line that passes though points (-2,5) and (6,8). My question is, how would you solve this? Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (-2,5) and (6,8)
The line equation is:
Y=mX+b m=the slope [(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) & b=the Y intercept.
m=(8-5)/(6+2)=3/8 is the slope.
5=3/8*-2+b
5=-6/8+b
b=5+6/8
b=5+3/4=5.75 ans. for the Y intercept.
Y=5x/8+5.75 is the line equation. (graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 8, y from -10 to 10, 5x/8 +5.75 )
