You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Snookers lumber can convert logs into either lumber or plywood.
In a given day, the mill turns out twice as many units of plywood as lumber.
It makes a profit of $30 on a unit of lumber and $45 on a unit of plywood.
How many of each unit must be produced and sold in order to make a profit of $12360?
:
Let x = units of lumber produced
It states that,"the mill turns out twice as many units of plywood as lumber" therefore:
2x = units of plywood
:
Profit equation:
"a profit of $30 on a unit of lumber and $45 on a unit of plywood."
30x + 45(2x) = 12360
30x + 90x = 12360
120x = 12360
x = 12360%2F120
x = 103 units of lumber
then
2(103) = 206 units of plywood
;
:
Confirm this
30(103) + 45(206) =
3090 + 9270 = 12360
:
That's pretty easy, right?
