Start with the first equation.


Multiply both sides by 2.


Distribute


Multiply


Plug in . In other words, replace each '2x' with 'y-13' (that's why I multiplied both sides by 2 above).


Combine like terms on the left side.


Add to both sides.


Combine like terms on the right side.


Divide both sides by to isolate .


Reduce.


Move onto the second equation


Plug in


Subtract


Divide both sides by to isolate .


Reduce.
