Question 25270: What is the solution to -7x+2y=-5 and 10x-2y=6 using the method of combinations? Here is what i have tried so far.
-7x+2y=-5
+10x-2y=6
3x=1
/3=/3
x=1/3 here is where i am stuck at with plugging the solution back into the other problem to come up with the y answer.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If x+=+1%2F3
Plugging this back in -7x+2y=-5 wil give us
-7%281%2F3%29+%2B2y+=+-5
-7%2F3+%2B2y+=-5
Adding 7%2F3 on both sides
2y+=+-5+%2B7%2F3
/2 = /2
+y+=+%28-5%2B%287%2F3%29%29%2F2
Can you solve it from here?
