Question 24552: Solve for x in the expression: - ( 1/x ) – 5 = 0; Show your recheck.
I'm not sure what to do with the -(1/x)?

Answer by Earlsdon(6294)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First of all, this is an "equation" rather than an "expression".
Remember, equations have equal signs while expressions do not.
On to your problem! Solve:
First, add 5 to both sides of the equation.
Now multiply both sides by x.
Finally, divide both sides by 5.

Check: Substitute -1/5 for x in the original equation.
Simplify.
