Hello,
We can attack this problem from a couple different ways so let's take the easy route. Let's multiply the second equation by 3.(I'm doing this so the y cancels)Also note when you multiply everything needs to be multiplied.
(3)x=(3)-2y+(3)28 or 3x=-6y+84
x=6y-4
3x=-6y+84 Now we can add both equations together which will give us:
4x=80 Divide both sides by 4
x=20 Plug this answer into the original equation (either equation will work)
20=6y-4 Add 4 to both sides
24=6y Divide both sides by 6
4=y There we go plug these answers y=4 and x=20 into both equations and it should work out.
